Come read a comic with me

Hi everyone,

I hope the new year is treating you well so far.

When I was kickstarting SOUP one of the stretch goals was for me to record a video of myself doing a reading from the comic. I have now done this! You can view it on Youtube here:

I wanted to do a reading like since I went to an evening event at LICAF (Lakes International Comic Art Festival) in 2024 where artists were performing readings from their comics. Some of the creators there were Luke Healy reading this comic, Isobel Greenberg read a section of her book Young Hag and John Allison gave a reading (complete with wild voice acting) of one of his comics.

It made me think about my own work and how, for the most part, it wouldn’t translate too well to that kind of presentation. Holly for example, has too many sequences of quiet silence. With SOUP though, being framed as a presentation of an investigation and interviews, felt like it could work being read for an audience like this.
